When Will I Find Out About Acceptance To Grad School?

By business answers Posted in: business finance

I applied to a few different business (finance) PhD programs. Is there any easy way to know when the decision(s) will be made? I have heard from two or three of the schools to be on the lookout “near the end of february / beginning of march” but one of the schools I applied to didn’t even have a deadline until May 1st.
Obviously I am just eager, but is there any resource out there which can tell me when schools TYPICALLY send out their decision to admit, waitlist, deny, etc?
Like I said … just getting anxious after a year long process to study, apply, and now wait!

It’s been a few years since I went through the finance PhD application process, but if I remember correctly, PhD programs have until April 15 (with some exceptions) to make offers and get everything squared away for next fall. The first day they are allowed to start officially contacting students is February 1, so we are only 18 days into the process, and the admissions committees have many other things to do. Just keep checking GradCafe and the TestMagic business PhD forums to find if the schools you have applied to have started sending out acceptances/rejections. From personal experience, the rejections come before the acceptances.
PS my answer only applies to US programs, I have no idea about program abroad.

When applying to school there’s a window of oppurtunity and they send acceptance letters in batches a few times withing that window. So if you applied early to that May 1st school, you should know earlier than May 1st. Best of luck :)
