focus on business faqs and small business

I am currently a year 12 student, doing SACE (South Australia Certificate of Education). I’ve been wanting to go to NYU since year 7. I know going from high school, straight to NYU undergraduare is impossible, so what are my other options?
Currently my grades vary from C to A’s, and I know that would affect the process of me getting to NYU…
I want to go to Gallatin and do creative writing or journalism, and I do honstly think Gallatin would be the best option for me. All the universities here in Australia only offer exchange to NYU by doing a business course or law, and I’m not doing business as it is boring to me, and I’m nowhere near smart enough to do law. I wanted to go to UNSW just to do business so I could go to NYU but that was a stupid idea as, like I said earlier, business is boring to me. I’ve got aboriginal benifits as well, as I do have aboriginal blood in me, but I don’t know if that will help me get into NYU. I’ve reserched for years for how internationals can get to NYU, but none of them seems to help my cause. I have 0.05c in my bank account and no one in my family is rich enough or want to pay the $50,000 dollar school tuition. I was thinking about taking a Gap year and travel to the US and do the SAT or seeing if they offer SAT courses in Adelaide but, it’s Adelaide…and no one cares for Adelaide.
I know I’ve just mumbled on, but NYU is my biggest dream in life. It’s been my goal to go there since I was in year 7. People have told me continuesly to give up, I’m not going to make it to NYU, but I want to prove them wrong. I also want to put my NYU t-shirt and jumper into good use instead of wearing them in shame and dissapointment of not fulfilling my dream. Please, anyone, advice on what paths I can take to get to NYU year 12 onwards?

For EG: a one man / woman company starting from nothing , no capital , no staff just effectively a computer and phone line and a life time of sales experience .. ?

Is it ever wise to refinance a mortgage because you no longer want to do business with that bank?
We have been struggling with making on-time payments due to an income decrease, and filed for help with their Loss Mitigation Dept. last October. Long story short, we were denied and I sought Legal Aid via attorney to help us sort out our issues. – His solution, file bankruptcy on the $2,250, due the mortgage company, to keep us out of foreclosure. Frankly, this was a Free Legal Aid service and I don’t feel the attorney was too interested in working on our messy financials with the mort. comp. (Easier to file a Chapter 13 and adjust our loan?)
Anyhow, we simply “coughed up” the $2,250 to pay our account current (included $409 in late fees) and now my next mortgage statement shows they put $500 in a Suspense Account, did not pay off the late fees, and ADDED $300 more to Other Fees!…WTH?
I got NO resolution with a phone call to the bank, each representative had different information, and I’m so frustrated, after sending every penny they wanted to bring our account current, we owe hundreds more, just 9 days later?!
What do I do now? (I am going to call the attorney back, to let him know what the circumstances are now, and see what he says…but I’m not confident I’ll get the advice I want to hear.)…I feel like the mortgage company is wanting us to fail and I don’t think I want them in control of our home for another 24 years. – I’m just unsure if our credit is good enough to refinancee and don’t want to lose the decent interest rate & monthly payment/s amount we are comfortable with.
We are anxious to get back in good-standing for 7 months now. Have done everything asked/required of us during the LMP, Made 6 timely payments during their decision process, but they returned the last one & wanted ALL the monies due. Gave them those funds. Made May’s payment on time…*sigh*
Advice, please?

When a UK Company makes use of / pays for a Service delivered by / carried out by a Consultant based abroad, what UK taxes &Expenses are due, and is it tempting for UK businesses to do this?
Two Country Scenarios are possible:
- between UK and a Consultant inside the EU, and
- between UK and a Consultant completly abroad (..like India or else)
The Question is about services provided by a Consultant based abroad, so of course no goods are “imported”, the only product which crosses borders is “work” provided in the form of knowledge and a result inside the UK.
Three real life examples, the second two are different from the first one:
a UK company paying a consulting fee to a (self employed) indian IT-Specialist for his two week consultation with a project INSIDE UK, but based on an indian consulting contract.
a UK company paying a Search Engine Optimization Specialist based in China(HongKong).
a UK company paying commission to a Sales Consultant based in Italy.
As far as I understand, the Consultants abroad can offer (almost) everything cheaper than UK Consultants, AND the UK company is still able to “write off” the payment as expenses. If this wouldnt be enough, there
- is no UK VAT (in the EU example, because there is foreign VAT on the invoice?)
- is no Import Tax on the service?

l want to pursue a career in counselling but l feel as if l have left it too late. lt is the cost of the course that puts me off! The fees/finance and debts l could be in and if l fail it, it would be a waste of time.
l have had a change after doing a Business and Administration course for two years and started to do care work and a BTEC in Health and Social Care. l feel that my life belongs working as a carer. l like my job but l want something more challenging and rewarding (like counselling!) l feel less intelligent than those who can do it.
l am a slow learner and l take a while to pick up on things and l get extremely frustrated which really puts me off. l don’t feel like my life is going anywhere at the moment! How can l motivate myself to do it? l’ve tried to use a teacher who is in her 20s at a placement l went to as my inspiration but she is obviously intelligent and clever and l don’t think l will ever be like that. =/

I’m really conserned about my chances of getting into ivy league schools, as at this stage I should decide whether to have a gap year or go to US high school for 1 year in ordet to get better scores and win some maths/economics competitions. Here are some info about me for you to evaluate my chances.
1) I’m an international student, I’ve been studying abroad since I got 15. 9 years in Russia, 1 year in SIngapore, 2.5 years in Britain.
2) I’ve got a certificate for finishing middle school in Russia with (A,A,A,B), certificate for finishing GCSE (A,A,A,A,B,) and A-levels in Britain (A-economics, B- Maths, B-history) bad A-levelvs results are due the difficulty of the course as it is equivalent to the 12th grade and 1st year of the US University.
3) I’m bilingual Russian/English.
4) I have participated in Student Investor Challenge (lost as I purchased too much shares of the company which lost the court case and their share price felt dramatically), President of the Debating society.
5) Going to do SAT in June, predicted score from 2000 to 2200.
6) Have some people ,who finished different Ivy league colleges,will recommend me as a student.
7) Doing a lot of sports. 3 years of tenns, 1 year of boxing, 2 years of thai boxing. Unfortunately haven’t done any competitions as was moving from country to country.
Have got 2 good techer’s recommendations.
9) If I’ll have a gap year, than I’d go to russian army. I got accepted into elite russian milittary forces as a commando. This will develop my leader’s skills and will allow me to participate in Athletics, long distance ones especially. Moreover, I would be able to participate in Boxing and Wrestling competitions.
10) Have 1 month of working experience in restaraunt sector.
If I have low chances of getting in, than could you advice on the best next move for getting into Ivy league. Can I go straight to 12th grade, after finishing which I’ll get a certificate of completing high school in the States? Or should I just be a little bit more realistic and apply to other colleges like NYU

Russian army is just 1 year long. Right now I’m living in the UK, so I got out of there already =). About GPA, unfortunately there is no such thing as GPA in Britain. But A-level results are ABB,but again A-levels are much harder than US high school. I’ve got predicted SAT which varies from 2000 to 2200, with 740-770 maths score. In addition to that I’ve got a good US history knowledge, 1890-1945 especially.
I’m planning to stay in the US after graduation because, to my knowledge this country has a real working democracy, friendly views about jews,beautiful cities and interesting history, roaring 20s and Great Depression my favourite parts=)
In A-levels you can study only 2-4 subjects.
The marks for A-levels: History-B, maths-B, economics-A
GC SE ( grade 10/11): maths-A business studies-A economics-A IT- B English-B Art and design -A
Grade 9/10 in russian school: maths-A english-A russian-B history-A physics-A chemistry-B literature-A sociology-A
Russian army is compulsory, so there is nothing I can do about it, other than to go to Russian University, which is not a very good idea…

I am have my associates in business administration, I am currently getting my undergrad degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting but it is actually a concentration in accounting. So when I graduate next spring my degree will say Finance but I will also have all the accounting classes and credits done, all 39 of them so I will have both areas covered Finance and Accouting. Now as we all know that you don’t go to graduate school and get the same graduate degree that your undergrad is in so therefore no reason to get a graduate degree in accounting or finance. Also most of the graduate degrees in business graduate school are really crap and useless. Taxation may seem useful but I don’t think that is needed and really have become turned off from it. Basically when I graduate next spring I will be DONE with business, yes I am going to get my CPA and the CIA certification but thats really it.
So the question is what do I go to graduate school to study? I have been thinking something along the lines of some kind of scientific/technical field. I really want to do what I want to do and follow my heart but I need some suggestions! I will give 10 points to the best, well thoughtout, factual answer that is given here. Please be as specific and elaborate on your information that you can give! Thanks and take care!

okay this is going to be kinda long but please help i don’t know what to do
so i have this friend and she kissed this girls boyfriend on the bus a long time ago and then we got in a fight and i told the girls best friend but they didn’t believe me but on Monday she told the girl that she kissed her boyfriend on the bus and she said that he always grabs her and stuff but anyways. she always texts me and tells me shes going to kill herself and she texted me earlier and she said she was going to kill her self and that she couldn’t put up with it anymore. i mean she got one of the “popular” girls boy friends so all her friends are being mean as hell to her and i told me mom cuz i didn’t know what to do! and then my mom said she wanted to call her mom but my friend was like no i told my mom were talking about it now and she was like begging me to tell my mom not to call her mom and then she said well you cant call because my house phone doesn’t work and then i told me mom and she was kinda pissed cuz shes obviously lying and then ( i say that a lot sorry.) shes like hang on im on the phone with my mom. .. like okay you just said your house phone doesn’t work and she doesn’t have cellphone ( she uses her ipod but you cant really call off that and she told me she doesn’t want her mom to know she has her ipod because shes suppose to be grounded) and then my mom was like fine ill just messaged her mom on facebook and she did and then my friend got on her moms facebook and blocked my mom.. okay you told me your om was in the car so how could she possibly add and then block my mom on her phone? hmm makes sense? nope. and then she told me that her mom was getting pissed because she doesn’t want my mom up in her business. i honestly don’t think that her mom got on because any mom would want to hear what someone else has to say about their kid if there is something wrong. so i think she is lying about the hole thing with her mom ” know that she cuts herself (badly is what she says) i don’t know if shes just freaking crazy or what…what do you think?
