How Can I Learn Japanese As My Language In College If It Is Not Taught In My Current College?

By business answers Posted in: international business

So I am going to a community college, and getting associates there, I am majoring in in international business. My plan was to do that transfer to a university and get my bachelors and move to japan to have a career there and in the united states. Only problem is, I have to take language courses before i transfer, and they dont teach Japanese, so right now I was deciding on either Korean or Mandarin, I have some interest in Korea, and learning Korean, and I know Mandarin would be the most helpful but Japanese was my all time life dream. Now I dont know what to do. Because I want to learn one language, start it next year and as I transfer, continue to learn that language so i can become completely fluent in it.

If you want to earn credits for it you will need to find another nearby college where you can take it. You would need to speak with someone at your school to see how that could be arranged. You might also consider spending all or part of your summer at a language school in Japan. If you don’t want to take it for credit, look for a private tutor. If you can’t find a private tutor, consider something like Rosetta Stone. However, if you have to resort to computer programs, keep in mind that there is only so much you can learn from them and you will need to make sure that your next school offers actual Japanese classes (or that you can go to Japan and study, or that you can get a private tutor) if you want to continue progressing.
