I live in Honolulu, HI and the cost of living is crazy. I plan on owning a business someday and Hawaii is just not the place to start. I was considering Portland, OR because its a really nice place to live but Seattle, WA has a better offer when it comes to business. I am planning to start up my business in Seattle, WA and move to Portland when I retire. Seattle is cheaper than Honolulu but Portland is way cheaper than Seattle. A luxury condo in Bellevue is a few hundred dollars more to rent out compared to a luxury condo in the waterfront districts in Portland. Also groceries is much cheaper in Portland. I heard electricity and gas is also cheap and there is no sales tax. Do alot of Seattle residents reitire in Portland?

No they do not. we have an income trax here, they don;t up in washington,.
Jason- BTW I think you should really look into my advice I gave you about finding a house in the portland suburbs for around 100K to 150K and then rent it out.
Seattle is MUCH more expensive than portland area. By atleast 35%
Many retire to the coast. Either the Ocean Shores area or the Long Beach Peninsula.
